RoadPro 12Volt Portable Stove

Over the past few years, cooking on the truck has become popular.  More and more drivers want fresh, home cooked meals without paying the high prices of eating in a restaurant every night.  I get asked all the time how I cook on my truck and the answer is simple- start with this product: The RoadPro 12v Portable Stove.

Don’t let the name fool you.  This Portable Stove plugs into any 12v cigarette plug and will heat up to 300 degrees.  It gets hot enough to boil water so you can cook or warm up all kinds of food.  I have cooked Pot Roasts, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and even Pizza.

It’s small design, makes for easy storage in any truck or car.  It has a footprint of 10.5 x 7 x 7.8 inches and weighs only 3.5 pounds. The inside cooking area is about 10 x 6 inches, which is great size for the 9 inch cooking pans, and makes for easy clean up.

So How does it work?

You can use this traveling down the road or when you are parked for the day.  I would plug it in when I got parked to allow it to warm up, it will take about 20 minutes or so to get nice and hot.  I would then prep my food and when it the stove was ready, I would put my food in it and let it cook away.  Because it only heats up to 300 degrees, some items might take a little longer to cook than they would using your home oven.

Some of the tricks I learned is if I wanted a baked potato, I would start it about an hour before I parked for the night.  Once I got parked I would let the potato cook for about a half hour more.  It will take about an hour and half to fully cook, depending on the size.  Once the potato was done I would take it out and let it rest while I cooked everything else I was having.

Overall Feelings

Overall I love this product, it is easy to use and easy to clean up.  With the small footprint it is easy to store.  For the price you can’t go wrong.  If you are looking to start cooking on your truck or car, this is a must have product.
